Jammu, Nov 12 (KNO): Police on Thursday thwarted the attempt of students from Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste and economically weaker sections to gherao Civil Secretariat to lodge the protest over delay in release of scholarship. Headed by Association Chairperson, Ajay Lakhotra, dozens of students took out a protest rally and tried to gherao the Civil Secretariat, which was foiled by the police. Ajay Lakhotra among other protesters said that Jammu and Kashmir UT administration has failed to ensure a smooth disbursement of scholarship to the needy students. “It’s the month of November and no steps have been taken to disburse the scholarship among the deserving students,” they said. Accusing the administration for ignoring the genuine process of scholarship disbursement, the protesting students sought personal intervention of Lieutenant Governor and said that concerned officers are least bothered to the suffering of students—(KNO)
